Set the strap so the frame sits level across the mouth and the buckle rests at the back of the head, then tighten until the piece stays put when you turn. It should hold without pressing.

Condition occasionally with a leather balm to keep it supple.
Keep the gold-tone hardware dry and away from perfume, lotions and household chemicals.
Store flat, out of direct sunlight, with the chain uncoiled.
